Lorazepam 3mg

Lorazepam 3mg is a short-acting benzodiazepine indicated for the short-term management of anxiety disorders, anxiety-associated insomnia, and acute alcohol withdrawal symptoms. It acts by enhancing the effect of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA at the GABA-A receptor, producing anxiolytic, sedative, anticonvulsant, and muscle relaxant effects.

Dosage & Administration Dosage is individualised. For anxiety, 1–4mg daily in divided doses is typical. For insomnia associated with anxiety, 1–2mg may be taken before sleep. Take orally with or without food. Duration of use should be kept to the shortest effective period.

Indications Short-term relief of anxiety and tension states, insomnia associated with anxiety, and supportive management of acute alcohol withdrawal.

Contraindications Not suitable for patients with acute narrow-angle glaucoma, severe respiratory insufficiency, sleep apnoea syndrome, severe hepatic impairment, or myasthenia gravis. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
